Brevard County voters headed to the polls Tuesday, August 18, to select candidates for several county, municipal and statewide offices.
According to unofficial results from the Brevard County Supervisor of Elections, 117,475 ballots were cast, representing a voter turnout of 26.71%. All 166 precincts had reported as of Tuesday night, although the totals do not yet include provisional ballots or mail ballots eligible to be cured.
County Commission Results
Micah Loyd won the Republican primary for the Brevard County Commission District 1 seat, receiving 4,732 votes, or 37.20%.
Pam Avery finished second with 26.06%, followed by Stel Bailey with 24.12% and Rick Heffelfinger with 12.62%.
In District 4, incumbent Commissioner Rob Feltner defeated Adam Dyer in the Republican primary. Feltner received 8,765 votes, or 56.74%, while Dyer received 6,682 votes, or 43.26%.
Brevard School Board Results
Megan Wright won the nonpartisan race for the District 1 seat on the Brevard County School Board. Wright received 54.02% of the vote, defeating Tara “Coach T” Gibson, who received 45.98%.
Two other School Board races appear headed to the November election because no candidate received more than 50% of the vote.
In District 2, Gene Trent led with 41.85%, followed by Kyle Savage with 31.36%. Kelly Wentworth finished third with 26.79%.
Tammy Dennis led the District 5 race with 41.01%. Michele McCormack finished second with 36.13%, while Cecilia Trotter received 22.85%.
Judicial Races
Timi DeAnn Tucker won the race for Brevard County Judge, Group 3, receiving 68.28% of the vote. Rodney Antonio Edwards received 31.72%.
In the 18th Judicial Circuit races, Robert Alan Segal won the Group 4 contest with 56.37%, defeating Larry Freeman.
Andrea Fant won the Group 13 race with 53.17%, while George Cole Gaspard received 46.83%.
Palm Bay City Council
Kenny Johnson won the Palm Bay City Council Seat 4 race with 53.88% of the vote. Alfy Agarie received 27.84%, while Michael J. Bruyette finished with 18.28%.
Mike Jaffe won Seat 5 with 58.66%. Santa Isabel Wright received 27.82%, and Eduardo Macaya received 13.52%.
Titusville City Council
Neither Titusville City Council race produced a candidate with more than 50% of the vote.
For Seat 1, Herman A. Cole led with 29.73%, narrowly ahead of Elizabeth Baker at 28.35%. Darcia Bair received 23.18%, and John Dacko finished with 18.74%.
In the Seat 5 race, Kayla Manning led with 43.22%, followed by Christopher Childs with 36.75%. David Hobart received 20.03%.
The leading candidates in both Titusville races are expected to advance to the November election.
Canaveral Port Authority
Greg Loyd won the Republican primary for the Canaveral Port Authority District 3 seat, receiving 67.05% of the vote. Vince Jackson received 32.95%.
Carol Craig won the universal primary contest for District 5 with 57.02%, defeating Randall May, who received 42.98%.
Brevard’s Statewide Primary Votes
Brevard County Republican voters favored Byron Donalds in the race for governor. Donalds received 46.11% of the county’s Republican vote, followed by Jay Collins with 25.08%.
David Jolly received 62.42% among Brevard Democratic voters in the Democratic gubernatorial primary.
In the U.S. Senate primaries, Republican Ashley Moody received 79.68% of the Brevard vote. On the Democratic side, Angie Nixon narrowly carried the county with 51.85%, compared with Alex Vindman’s 48.15%.
The winners of Florida’s party primaries will move on to the general election scheduled for Tuesday, November 3.
