ABOUT THE MELBOURNE MUNICIPAL BAND and Staci Rosbury, Conductor–

For more than 50 years, the Melbourne Municipal Band (MMB) has performed an exciting variety of musical concerts. The MMB concert band and Swingtime, its 20-piece Big Band, perform popular tunes, themes from Broadway and Hollywood, patriotic songs and marches, classical music, and Big Band swing selections. One-third of MMB members are professional musicians and music educators. Many of them are alumni of top military bands and nationally known musical groups. Also performing as part of the MMB family are multiple ensembles, including Swingtime Lite, Oh Golly Dixieland Band, Adagio Sax Quartet, Sunshine Brass Quintet, and the Clarinetics, the Mel-bones, and the Symphonic Wind Ensemble.

Staci Rosbury was named as the Conductor for the Melbourne Municipal Band in June of 2010 after serving as Associate Conductor, board member, and flute player in the band for nine years. Rosbury graduated from the University of Florida with her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and with her Master of Music in Instrumental Conducting. She studied conducting with Dr. David A. Waybright while serving as a Graduate Assistant at the UF School of Music. After serving as the Director of Admissions and Undergraduate Advising for the School of Music at UF, she taught band and general music in the Florida Public Schools and became increasingly involved in the community music and theater scene in Central Florida.  Rosbury served as music director for shows at the Henegar Center and has played flute with the Brevard Symphony Orchestra, Central Florida Winds & Chamber Winds, Space Coast Flute Orchestra, and the MMB. She is currently the Administrator for the Indian River Symphonic Association, which hosts a concert series of national and international orchestras each year in Vero Beach.
