The Space Coast Weavers and fiber artists will meet on Saturday, September 28, at 10:00 a.m. at the Merritt Island Public Library, 1195 N. Courtenay Parkway. Following a business meeting and member show-and-tell, Judy Schwab will present a program on “Creating Without a Net.”
Judith is a multi-talented artist trained in metal smithing and jewelry making and has turned to the fiber arts and mixed media. This workshop will address what every artist faces when they can’t seem to get started on their next project. Whether you are in your studio and creating every day or find a forgotten creation that you put aside and now have dusted off, it’s always a good idea to have a practice warm-up to get your creative juices flowing. No judging. No competition. No right or wrong. No worries and it’s actually fun!
Judy will be bringing all sorts of interesting materials for you to experiment with, as well as a lifetime of creative starters. Please bring scissors, white glue or glue sticks, a needle and thread, and whatever markers, pencils, or pens you may like. There is a $5 supply fee.
Since 1983, SCW&FA has been Brevard’s go-to guild for fiber arts: spinning, dyeing, weaving, basketry, rug hooking, and more. The guild helps fiber artists, beginning or advanced, learn through workshops and the informal exchange of ideas. It also works to educate the public about the fiber arts.
