Community campaign seeks to provide 1,000 U.S. flags to veterans served by St. Francis Hospice By Danika Warren
MELBOURNE, Fla. — Miss Brevard County Florida 2026 Kayleigh Mollycheck is partnering with St. Francis Hospice Foundation to launch “Stars, Stripes & Service: 1,000 Flags for Veterans,” a countywide fundraising initiative to provide 1,000 U.S. flags to veterans served by St. Francis Hospice.
Through the campaign, community members, businesses and organizations can sponsor a flag with a $20 donation. Each flag will be presented to a veteran served by St. Francis Hospice and their family as a symbol of gratitude, dignity and respect for their military service.
“With more than 70,000 veterans living in Brevard County, this initiative is more than a fundraiser. It is a commitment to honoring those who have given so much in service to our country,” Mollycheck said. “A flag may seem simple, but to a veteran and their family, it represents sacrifice, pride and the enduring spirit of the nation they served to defend.”
“Stars, Stripes & Service” is part of Mollycheck’s work as a St. Francis Hospice ambassador and her broader effort to use the Miss Brevard County title to bring greater awareness to local businesses, nonprofits and community causes through her “A Stronger Brevard” platform.
“As Miss Brevard County, I want my year to be about more than wearing a crown. I want to use this platform to shine a light on the people and organizations that make Brevard stronger,” Mollycheck said. “Stars, Stripes & Service gives our community a meaningful way to come together and make sure our veterans know their service is remembered and appreciated.”
St. Francis Hospice integrates recognition and honor into its care for veterans and their families, ensuring those who served receive dignity and respect throughout their hospice journey. Providing a U.S. flag offers veterans and their families a lasting symbol of their military service and the community’s gratitude.
“Care, dignity and respect are at the heart of everything we do,” said a representative from St. Francis Hospice Foundation. “This partnership with Miss Brevard allows our community to come together in a powerful way to acknowledge the bravery and commitment of our veterans.” Community members can support “Stars, Stripes & Service” by making a $20 donation to sponsor a flag for a veteran. The campaign also leads into the St. Francis Hospice DASH in Life 5K and Stroll of Hope & Healing, scheduled for Nov. 7, 2026, from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Center Park. The fundraising event honors and remembers military veterans, those currently serving, those lost during service and loved ones who have died. Proceeds benefit the St. Francis Hospice Veteran Program.
St. Francis Hospice, established in 1977, is the only independent nonprofit hospice in Brevard County.
Donations can be made through the St. Francis Hospice donation page. Donors supporting the Stars, Stripes & Service campaign should enter “1000 Flags” in the donation note to ensure their contribution is designated for the initiative.
