Here’s a quick update on my publisher notes from last month. So far, I’m doing well with my New Year’s resolution. I’m hardly watching TV anymore, which is great! I’ve found some good books on my Kindle, and I’m starting to enjoy some quiet time more often.
All I need to do now is start going to bed a little earlier; we shall see!
Over the years, when I’ve shared my publisher’s notes with you, my goal has always been to be honest and stay true to myself. I never wanted to come across as something I’m not. If you’ve been reading my notes, I hope you can see that I try to stay real in my writing. So, with that in mind, I’d like to share a little more about myself.
I was born in Melbourne, Florida, at the old Melbourne Hospital that used to be on US 1. Wow, I guess that shows my age! I’m the youngest of four boys, and two of my brothers still live in the area. My other brother lives in Springfield, Missouri, with his wife, kids, and a lot of grandchildren. Speaking of grandchildren, between my wife and me, we have three kids and eleven grandkids.
If you’ve lived in the area for a while, you might recognize the schools I went to: Brevard Christian School, Ruth Henager, Stone Middle School, and I graduated from Palm Bay High. As for college, I only spent about a year and a half at what was then called Brevard Community College (BCC).
Now, who would’ve thought, with no actual college degree, that I’d end up owning a business, a magazine, no less, with just a high school education? To be honest, I just barely got through high school because I spent a lot of time surfing back then. But I like to think it all worked out okay.
So, there you go— a little bit about my life. I didn’t even get into how this magazine evolved and why I believe it is truly a gift from God, something He has entrusted to me. Maybe I’ll share more about that in another issue.
Take Care, and God Bless,
Bryan McDonough, Spotlight Magazine Inc.
