Hints Of Christmas At Our House
West Chester County, NY (1960 – 1971)
Little Extra Trivia – Current home of Bill and Hillary Clinton
By Denise Imperato

A cold winter’s eve. Windows covered in frost. Watching snow fall late into the night.
Turkey, cranberry sauce, and all the trimmings. Hot cocoa stirred with peppermint sticks.
Lounging by a cozy fire. Warmly baked pies of apple cinnamon and pumpkin custard.
Creamy pastries. Eggnog spiced with rum. Butter cookies hot from the oven.
Rice pudding sprinkled with nutmeg and a dollop of sweet whipped cream.
Enticing scents wafting through the whole house.
A towering blue spruce, its snow covered branches aglow with colorful lights of red, gold, and green.
Playing in the snow with my beloved beagle. The Christmas tree inside, dressed in tinsel of silver and gold, adorned with shiny ornaments.
A jolly old man in a familiar red suit, quietly leaving long awaited presents under the tree.
Mistletoe hung high, anticipating a surprised kiss.
Family and friends gathering together for a lavish feast and a cup of good cheer.
All come together to create the most awe inspiring….

WIND
BY DENISE IMPERATO

A LIGHT WIND TOSSING AROUND
GOLDEN LEAVES ON A CRISP AUTUMN DAY.

THE WIND OF A COOL SUMMER’S
BREEZE, GENTLY CARESSING BARE SKIN.

THE HARSH WINDS OF WINTER,
WHIPPING ABOUT NEWLY FALLEN SNOW.

THE FRESH SCENT OF AN OCEAN’S WIND..
TRULY EXHILARATING.

THE JOURNEY
by Kim Limb

A long journey I have traveled with some paths crooked
some straight.
I have tasted bitter….
I have tasted sweet.
I have felt despair…..
I have had defeat.
I’ve smiled, I’ve shed a tear or two.
I’ve seen so many things and done so many more….
But none was greater than when I gave my life to the Lord.
O! How he blessed me and made my paths rich and full….
And my joy complete.
Changed my life for good.
I will never be the same.
As when my journey began.

Summer Olympics
by Fred DiFrancesco

We’ve waited four years and It’s finally here –
Time to watch and time to cheer!
The Olympic flame is shining bright –
Time to run, jump, swim and fight.

Nations are proudly showing their flags
as Olympians pull colorful uniforms out of their bags.
The City of London is lit up and everyone’s alive –
Spectators see the five rings as they begin to arrive.

All the Olympians will do their best.
We’ll wave our flags and pound our chests!
Gold, Silver, Bronze medals – the events are done!
We must wait four more years for Olympics fun.

Friends
by Joyce Striffler

Remember well and bearing in mind
a friend like yours is hard to find.
When you find one kind and true
don’t forget the old one for a new.

When the evening rolls the curtain down
and pins it with a star. Don’t forget that
your my true friend no matter
where ever you are.

Roses are red, violets are blue.
It certainly is a pleasure to have
a Good Friend Like You !

Do You Ever …..
by Jacqueline Willard

Do you ever feel that no one can relate?
And being alone is just your slice of fate?
Listen closely to what I’m to reveal…
Sit in the silence, and allow yourself to heal.
Listen to your soul and follow your heart!
Hold yourself together, when your about to fall apart.
Too big of a battle? Call on the Lord!
Use His undying love as you would a sword.
To give up is the only way to fail.
Just sit back and allow God’s Plan to prevail.

MOTHER EARTH
By Maddilyn Hatchett

Mother Earth so beautiful and peaceful,
She gives us land to build homes,
space for crops and the oceans to swim;
She gives us everything she has,
We take without a single return,
But she gives and wants no return.

TIME
By Charlene Reinhardt

The weeks and months go by so fast
I wish that they could longer last
But time stands still for no one
Not you
Not me
But that is the way it is meant to be
This one thing we must face
And understand God’s grace
He has a plan for all of us,
and in this plan we place our trust
God knows his plan is best for us
and time is something we can’t rush

A FURRY KIND OF LOVE
By Denise A. Imperato

A ball of yarn.
An old sock.
Some catnip.
Bringing me endless affection.
Always at my side.
Always there for me when I am blue.
Purring away.
Playful and loving.
My furry friend.
…….My cat.
