Melbourne, FL — Brevard Rescue Mission, which provides transitional housing and support services for homeless women with children, was recently awarded a $5,000 grant from Bank of America.
The grant funds will be used to provide resident single mothers with financial literary classes and guidance, as well as life skill classes and employment support. Additionally, grant funding will be used to provide tuition for occupational training and to pay for the necessary testing and licensing. Funds would also allow the women to obtain appropriate clothing for jobs and to cover the costs associated with internships, job interviews, and employment.
“We are grateful to Bank of America for supporting our program,” explained John Autry, Executive Director of Brevard Rescue Mission. “Affordable housing is hard to come by, so preparing the single mothers we serve for the best possible employment and the skills with which to manage a limited budget is key to their being able to transition to lives of financial independence.”
Brevard Rescue Mission is privately funded by donations from individuals, civic organizations, foundations, churches and area businesses. For more information, call 321-480–9100 or visit www.BrevardRescueMission.org.
