The 2018 air show season kicks off for the Air Force Thunderbirds right here in Florida.The two-day event held at the Orlando Melbourne International Airport will be the first air show on the 2018 schedule for the Thunderbirds on March 24-25.
“We are thrilled to be able to host the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds for their 2018 season opener,” said Bryan Lilley, Chairman of the Melbourne Air & Space Show. “What a way to celebrate the 5th anniversary of our event at the Orlando Melbourne International Airport.”
The Melbourne show, which is sponsored by Northrop Grumman.
“We are incredibly excited to kick off the 2018 demonstration season in Melbourne,” said Lt. Col. Kevin Walsh, Thunderbird #1 and the Thunderbirds’ Commander/Leader. “The team is training hard through the winter getting ready to perform a phenomenal demonstration. We are fired up to get out there and showcase the pride, precision and professionalism of your United States Air Force.”
The aerobatic demonstration team has eight pilots, six of which take part in the daily performances.
The show will also feature military and civilian acts. Advance tickets $16.25 ($25 day of show) for 13 and older, $9.75 for children 6-12 and free for 5 and under. Parking is additional.
